The catalyst was 'leaf blower' noise. It just became too much. Too intrusive. And it also became clear that this was not an isolated concern. Numerous other communities have acted assertively in response to growing complaints from citizens.
We also learned that these blowers are not really just 'leaf' blowers, they are dust blowers, sand blowers, debris blowers, general clean-up blowers. And they are severe air polluters - worse than cars.
D. Dimancescu shared his concerns with the Town's Selectmen over several years (unsuccessfully) but late in 2007 moved to Concord, Mass. Tim Meadors raised the subject in an open question part of a Selectmen's meeting in May of 2006. Soon after, both individuals decided to 'go public' in addressing the issue.
