"Based in Arlington, Virginia, and founded by the late Sir Antony Fisher, Atlas believes the prospects for free societies all over the world depend upon “intellectual entrepreneurs” in civil society, who wish to improve public policy debates through sound research."
"The Atlas Economic Research Foundation works with think tanks and individuals around the world to advance a vision of a society of free and responsible individuals, based upon private property rights, limited government under the rule of law and the market order. Atlas is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that is supported solely by donations from individuals, foundations and corporations."
ATLAS Partner organization in Romania: One of the newest institutes in the network is the Centrul pentru Analiza si Dezvoltare Institutionala (CADI) (Center for Institutional Analysis and Development), based in Bucharest, Romania. In last year’s Year-in-Review, Atlas highlighted Horia Terpe’s fellowship at Atlas during the summer of 2004, during which he analyzed the think tank climate in Romania. Upon his return to Romania, Horia has been instrumental in the creation of CADI, serving as its executive director. Its executive board includes Valeriu Stoica, the former leader of the National Liberal Party and former Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Romania. The Center is primarily focused on disseminating ideas and principles that advance a free and prosperous society. It is building a link between theoretical developments in economics, political science, legal studies and organizational sciences, and their public policy and management applications. Special attention is given to the foundational role that values and norms have in shaping institutional order and institutional change.

The Atlas Society & The Objectivist Center / publish the New Individualist
"We are the most respected independent source of information about Objectivism -- the philosophy defined by Ayn Rand.
"Our world is torn by irrationalism: by brute force and fanatical terrorism, by assaults on reason in the university, by political encroachments on our individual rights and liberties.
"All these evils are the results of ideas: the moral and philosophical ideas that people have been taught are good and true.
"And all these evils will end only as bad ideas are replaced by better ideas: by an inspiring new vision of human morality, human rights, and human potential.
"Objectivism is that alternative. Ayn Rand's philosophy of rational individualism challenges the doctrines of irrationalism, self-sacrifice, brute force, and collectivism that have brought centuries of chaos and misery into the lives of millions."
Robert James Bidinotto, Senior Writer and Speaker, Editor, The New Individualist
Robert Bidinotto is an award-winning writer and lecturer who specializes in cultural and political issues from an Objectivist perspective. His investigative articles on crime and environmental topics have appeared in Reader's Digest and other journals. He is editor of Criminal Justice? The Legal System Versus Individual Responsibility, plus many articles and reviews. His work has been honored by the Free Press Association, the American Society of Magazine Editors, as well as crime victim organizations.
A nationally-recognized expert on crime, Mr. Bidinotto is perhaps best known for his article "Getting Away With Murder" in the July 1988 Reader's Digest. That investigative piece stirred a national controversy about crime and prison furlough programs during the 1988 presidential election campaign, and helped make convicted killer Willie Horton a household name. Bidinotto's many writings on environmental issues include investigative articles for Reader's Digest on global warming and the 1989 Alar scare. His Alar article was singled out for editorial praise by Barron's business weekly, and by Priorities, the journal of the American Council on Science and Health. His many articles, essays, columns, book and film reviews have appeared in Success, The Boston Herald, The Freeman, The American Spectator, City Journal, Reason, and many others. He is a popular lecturer, and has appeared as a guest on many radio and television talk shows, including "The Rush Limbaugh Show," "Geraldo," CBS radio's "Crosstalk," CNN's "Sonya Live," The Bob Grant Show," and CNBC's "Rivera Live."

"The Competitive Enterprise Institute is a non-profit public policy organization dedicated to advancing the principles of free enterprise and limited government. We believe that individuals are best helped not by government intervention, but by making their own choices in a free marketplace. Since its founding in 1984, CEI has grown into a $3,000,000 institution with a team of over 20 policy experts and other staff.
"We are nationally recognized as a leading voice on a broad range of regulatory issues-from free market approaches to environmental policy, to antitrust and technology policy, to risk regulation. But CEI is not a traditional "think tank." We frequently produce groundbreaking research on regulatory issues, but our work does not stop there. It is not enough to simply identify and articulate solutions to public policy problems; it is also necessary to defend and promote those solutions at all phases of the public policy debate."
